Guildford Bus Station Refurbishment – Bus Service Changes

Work will begin on 1 September 2026 to refurbish Guildford Bus Station, creating a modern and enhanced transport hub for Guildford town centre.

The refurbishment will deliver a safer, more accessible and more attractive facility for bus users, helping to improve the overall travel experience for residents and visitors.

The project is being delivered through a partnership between Surrey County Council, Berkeley and Guildford Borough Council.

There will be two phases of work during the refurbishment, so some services serving the Friary Bus Station and Commercial Road will be affected.

During phases one and two services that would normally depart from Commercial Road, will instead depart from temporary bus stops on Onslow Street and North Street.

Services 18, 23 and 25 which would normally depart from Commercial Road, will operate from the temporary bus stops.  Services 24, 32 and 42 will continue to depart from the bus station using Bay 4.

Service 625 will start in the morning from stop N (Onslow Street) and will drop off in the afternoon at stop L (North Street).

Phase 1:

Phase one will begin on 1 September 2026, when works will focus on the northern end of Commercial Road, which will be temporarily closed.

Phase 2:

Phase two will begin from 26 October 2026 (this date may be subject to change) where the works will move to the southern end of Commercial Road.  All bus services entering the bus station will do so via a new northern entrance.

The drop off point outside The Friary entrance will be suspended.
